I Want Checkerboard Floors to Rule Again

Why oh why do people no longer choose checkerboard flooring, I just do not know. I had the black and white pattern in the kitchen of my childhood home and just adored it. What a statement, what a pop of style, what a memory. When friends came over they also thought it was the coolest of things, not the big stained glass window, or the secret back staircase. Nope, it was all about the checkerboard floor. The checkerboard pattern can also be inviting and effective in a number of different areas around the home. It can even be a nice feature outside of the home for example when applied to quality rolling shutters or traditional French shutters.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure to see more colourful combinations and more elaborate patterns created. Not once have I ever been disappointed to come across this exciting choice. But, today it appears to have lost its popularity, and this I think is a flat out shame. I do hope there is a resurgence of the stylish option, and I pray that it is sooner rather than later.
